Saturday was a beautiful day with sunshine & not much wind, so we spent most of the day outside in the garden. What did we achieve?
* Hedge trimmed
* Planter boxes contructed & positioned
* Vege garden planned
* Dafodils & crocus transplanted from the soon to be vege patch to other parts of the garden
Now I'm all excited & can't wait to start planting. Unfortunately we are still getting frosts over night so I'll have to wait a little bit yet.
What are you going to put in the planter boxes? And what vege plants are you going to plant? Anything exciting or new for you?
ReplyDeleteI still haven't got out to plant some spinach, rocket and swiss chard while it is still warm. It is still pretty warm, but a lot cooler overnight which is going to slow down germination and growth! But I need to get some more slugh and snail pellets first, otherwise the little seedlings will get razed as soon as they poke their heads out of the soil!
This year our garden will hopefully consist of carrots, spinach, lettuce, onions (in planter boxes) peas, pumpkin & squash (on free land). Now that we have a greenhouse I'm looking forward to trying to grow capsicum, cucumber & tomatos. I have grown tomatos before just in the garden (with mixed success), but they grow better in a greenhouse here. I also bought a vege starter pack yesterday that had garlic so I'm really excited to see how that goes.
ReplyDeleteFrom our experience of growing garlic, you need to fertilize it regularly if you want large bulbs (As well as watering lots).
